Knee Flexion

Setup

Frame Setup Diagram

1: Lie prone with hips at 30° flexion (use foam roller or like to position hip)

2: Adjust housing height with knee angle at 45° until housing is parallel with shank and cuff touching at level of lateral malleolus

3: Check hips are at 30°, knees at 45° flexion and cuff flat against calf / achilles

4: This position has been selected to test and strengthen the knee flexors (hamstrings) in a mid-range position that is associated with slightly lower MVIC than H45/K30 (in most athletes). It has been found clinically to be useful as an initial test and train position for novice users and for subjects with irritable proximal or distal hamstring tendinopathies.

Cues

1: Test unilaterally, with opposing leg relaxed

2: Feel fatigue/work in belly of hamstring

3: Maintain lumbar and pelvic posture throughout

4: Build to maximum force over 5 seconds
