Eccentric Hip Adduction

Setup

Frame Setup Diagram

1: Lie on non-testing side, pelvis centred on middle gridline on base mat. Abduct uppermost femur to place medial malleolus in cuff with hip abducted 45° (or as range allows)

2: With leg resting in cuff, re-zero sensor to account for the mass of the lower limb

3: Ensure the pelvis is square when the subject is propped on their elbow ready to pull down into cuff and perform a Copenhagen bridge.

4: Record height of top of carriers

Cues

1: Test unilaterally

2: Lift hips to hip adduction neutral position in frontal plane

3: Therapist provides manual downward pressure at the pelvis to complete a brake test

4: Feel work in the adductor group

5: Peak eccentric force should be reached within 10 seconds
