1: Sit in long sitting, facing the uprights
2: Adjust housing to allow the distal phalanx of the great toe to be positioned against the circular pad, with the ankle plantigrade
3: Note the toe should make contact with the lateral half of the sensor and the second toe be clear of the pad so that it can not contribute to the force generated
1: Test unilaterally
2: Set foot posture with arch high and first ray plantar flexed / stable
3: Slowly press (don't curl) the distal phalanx of the toe into the dynamometer pad, maintaining foot posture
4: Feel fatigue/work through the arch of the foot and undersurface of the big toe
5: Build to maximum force over 5 seconds
