1: Lie on testing side, with test hip and knee at 90° flexion. Flat pad 1cm above medial malleolus
2: Start with neutral transverse plane hip rotation. Use wedges/pillows to maintain separation of knees and feet and hip neutral in frontal plane.
3: If the player has < 15° of internal rotation range, raise the housing one position for every 5° of IR lacking. This allows MVIC to be measured closer to the subject's hip neutral position
4: Rotate housing to ensure flat pad is flush with apex of malleolus and sensor arm is at right angles to tibia
1: Test unilaterally. Upper leg supported by pillow, wedge.
2: Describe femoral rotation axis
3: Squeeze ankle bone into pad as 'femur falls to floor'
4: Feel deep hip rotators (deep in low gluteals) working
5: Discourage activation of adductors
6: Bracing of the upper body using a kettle bell or similar is permitted
7: Build to maximum force over 5 seconds
